Short trip via tuk-tuk today to Jungle beach via the Japanese Pagoda Temple, a beautiful place that combined the blindingly bright reflection from the sun with the cool shade of the dome’s overhang and a breeze from the sea.

So, another day and a trip to the nearest city in this south western corner of the country – Galle. We spent the morning and the ridiculously hot middle of the day (we still haven’t got our timings right around getting out early/ to bed early to avoid it) walking the Fort walls.

Fabulous day at Sahana beach. Great little local cafe serving ‘shorts’ (snacks not double vodkas!). Genuinely friendly surf school peeps (MSP), lovely with the kids, relaxed and no pressured sales thing going on.

So we’re on the beach! 1 lift, 2 planes, 12 hrs flying, 5600 miles, way too may films, 1 taxi, 1 tuktuk is all it took! Ooh, and a dash of jet lag!

Henna’s undertaking a major farewell present task! A card and a world themed chocolate chip cookie for all her classmates!
Arlo played a big supporting role in this and then decided to hand out chocolates to all his classmates after we used up all our ingredients.
