Toronto
Yeah! We loved Toronto. From morning until night, we were busy exploring. We were only there 4 days but we packed it in. It’s still the school summer holidays so there was loads to see and do in the city but we had to be choosey because of our short time.
Our Air BnB was OK, in a cool trendy area – not too far from Downtown – called Bloordale. Turn right at The Gentlemen’s Club. Streets full of vegan cafes, bars, hairdesssers, health food shops, take aways and saucy knickerless shops with nipple tassels in the windows.
We stayed fairly local at first, finding the park of course and the happy coincidence that was the Poop Cafe nearby. It was another highlight of our trip, poo shaped ice cream, urinals for drinking water, toilets for sitting on whilst you ate, poo facts and pictures adorned the walls such as “Neil Armstrong left four bags of poo on the moon” not sure if this is actually true though. Hilarity ensued as we all shoved the (vegan!) poo down our throats.
We mosied on down to Graffiti Alley before a quick $3 meal in Chinatown and the metro (TTC system) home.
Next day was beach day, yes, a beach in Toronto, on Lake Ontario on Centre Island, a short ferry ride from Downtown.
Last day was the epic CNE (Canadian National Exhibition). A month long festival with families in mind. Fairgounds, shows, exhibitions, stalls and demonstrations. Highlights for us were Henna’s debut in The Three Musketeers (think Legs Akimbo in Canadian). The acrobatic ice skating show and of course Arlo’s favourite – Superdogs, a colourful, loud and flamboyant dog agility display type of thing, Arlo beside himself with joy as he got to pet all the dogs at the end of the show.
The stereoptype of Canadians being warm, friendly and chilled out is all true and we loved them.
Our last day saw us on a 12 hour train ride to New York – Let’s Do This!!!!!!
