Japanese Pagoda, Jungle beach and Carnival

Short trip via tuk-tuk today to Jungle beach via the Japanese Pagoda Temple, a beautiful place that combined the blindingly bright reflection from the sun with the cool shade of the dome’s overhang and a breeze from the sea.

Once onto the beach via a jungle track, it took the kids 5 minutes to get into the water and any reservations about the necessity, benefits or cost of adding the GoPro to our visual kit were quickly dispelled by all. Off the floatstick, straight onto a head strap and away they went into the sea! Only beef we had with Jungle beach was that this far end of it was only a small bay and got busier than others we’ve been to. The water would also get constantly churned up by the boats ferrying people from beach to beach so you had to swim out further for decent snorkeling. No problem for Henna but Arlo likes to stay close.

Short day here today before tea at Carolyn’s from the school and home via a dancing carnival late into the night. Arlo headed back to bed early so Henna and I kept the party going on the family’s behalf! It’s tough but somebody’s gotta do it! from fire eaters to stilt walkers, dancers dressed resplendently to fasted boys with hooks through their backs being pulled around in a dancing frenzy – now that was a sight Henna won’t forget anytime soon!
